About
Background
As we witnessed the deteriorating situation in Iran, and the government’s heightening of its crackdown against minorities and dissidents, we began to brainstorm and think of innovative ways in which we can campaign against and draw awareness to the abuse.
The Idea
We envisioned a campaign that would allow us to reap the benefits of online activism, while garnering results offline. We hoped for a campaign that would mobilize citizens worldwide, and provide them with an avenue to express their concern in a creative manner.
And so, Postcards for Iran was born.
The Campaign
Imagine thousands of postcards being sent to Iranian officials, with the aim of bringing a voice to those whose very exهstence the government tries to silence, and asking those officials why holding a different political view, adhering to a different faith, or hailing from a different ethnic origin is a crime worthy of imprisonment or execution?
Imagine thousands of postcards reaching prisons in Iran, letting the prisoners of conscious know that we – the world – care.
That, in a nutshell, is “Postcards for Iran”
The Aim
Time and time again, international pressure has proven effective in forcing governments and heads of states into addressing violations within their nations. Our aim through this campaign is to:
1. Break the silence surrounding the violations occurring in Iran
2. Call for justice and accountability for those whose rights have been violated
